About The Position

Second Baptist School is currently seeking a PART-TIME Nurse for the 2025-2026 school year. This role serves to support the full-time school nurse and provide coverage in the Nurses office. A Nurse at SBS is expected to support staff and administration on their campus, to integrate Biblical principles and a Christian philosophy of nursing throughout their campus, and to model a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ.

Requirements

• A strong Christian testimony and a calling to serve as a positive Christian role model to all students.
• Degree - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Valid Texas Board of Nursing License.
• Current BLS/CPR and First Aid certification.
• Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
• A heart to provide exceptional customer service to all members of the community.
• A desire to build relationships and promote a culture reflective of the schools mission, passion and core values.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to demonstrate a strong track record of excellence in work habits.

Responsibilities

• Passion for school nursing in caring for students, faculty, and administration.
• Flexibility to quickly and smoothly transition from one duty to another.
• Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with others.
• Follow established guidelines for interacting with students, parents, faculty and staff.
• Participate in appropriate professional activities.
• Comply with all Second Baptist School and Second Baptist Church policies and procedures.
• Attend all required meetings/training assigned by the Director of Health Services and the Head of School.
• Assess and treat minor injuries and illnesses.
• Administer medications and manage students chronic health conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma, allergies, seizures).
• Maintain accurate health records.
• Participation in state-mandated screenings.
• Participation in any off-campus field trips or overnight retreats if needed.
• Ensure all student medical information is kept confidential.
• Ensure that the campus clinic is fully equipped throughout the school year.
• Collaborate with Athletic Directors and coaches when needed to ensure the safety of all student athletes.
• Performs other tasks related to area of responsibilities as requested or assigned by the Director of Health Services or the SBS Full Time Staff Nurse.
• Provide direct healthcare services, including first aid and emergency care for injuries and acute illnesses, according to Second Baptist School policies and procedures and CDC guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, school personnel, and healthcare professionals regarding students health status and needs.
• Administer medications to students according to Second Baptist School policy and physician orders.
• Clearly and accurately document assessments and medication administration.
• Perform other related work to accomplish the objectives needed to support the Director of Health Services.
