About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) at Missouri State University provides quality health care services to the university community in an outpatient clinic setting. This role focuses on evaluating, diagnosing, and treating common health issues in a fast-paced environment, primarily serving college-age students and older individuals. The position requires working 1-2 days per week at the Magers Health and Wellness Center, emphasizing family medicine and primary care.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Missouri.
  • Current registration with the US DEA and Missouri controlled substance registration (BNDD).
  • Experience in direct patient care with an emphasis on family medicine/primary care is preferred.
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and treat common problems presenting to an immediate care clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality health care for eligible members of the university community with an emphasis on individual wellness.
  • Assists in providing quality services to ensure continued accreditation of the Health Center by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc.
  • Collaborates with other members of the Health Center in providing health care to patients using the medical team method when appropriate.
  • Assists the Director in the selection of staff personnel and recommends medical equipment and supplies as appropriate.
  • Keeps current on quality health care by attending professional conferences and meetings regularly.
  • Maintains current knowledge of all federal and state laws regarding health care and maintains a current license to practice medicine in Missouri.
  • Promotes an educated, healthy student body by assisting in the development and presentation of educational programs directed to students and other members of the university community.
  • Provides advice to the Director regarding general policies on health-related issues and identifies and develops long-range goals and objectives for the Health Center.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Remains competent and current through continuing medical education and/or courses as required by the Physician, Coordinator Medical Services, and/or the Director.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as required to contribute to the overall success of the Magers Health and Wellness Center.
