Part-Time Night Grocery Clerk

About the position

The primary objective of this position is to stock, rotate, and face products, cut and sort grocery deliveries, and build displays as required for daily sales to ensure a positive shopping experience for customers. The role emphasizes meeting daily needs in stocking, load cutting, sorting, and display building to maximize department sales and product availability while providing a high level of customer service. The position requires ongoing walking, moderate to heavy lifting, operation of a pallet jack, and the use of a box cutter. Work hours and functions may vary according to business needs, with assignments and direction provided by the Grocery Manager or person in charge.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist them with product inquiries.
• Suggest products to customers and bring them to the location of items when needed.
• Assist with product replacement and price checks.
• Cashier and assist at checkout lanes.
• Perform aisle stocking as assigned and meet or exceed production requirements.
• Complete assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
• Maintain individual assignment card and document fixed activities.
• Follow case cutting standards and ensure correct placement of stock.
• Handle products carefully to avoid damage and rotate and face products as required.
• Perform display building as assigned and prepare locations according to instructions.
• Assist in completing grocery orders as assigned and perform clean-up of sales floor and back room as necessary.

Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and over 50 lbs occasionally.
• Experience with equipment operation such as scanners, registers, and scales.
• Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
• Good social skills and verbal interaction abilities.
• Basic math skills for price checks and cash handling.
• Ability to follow store and department policies and procedures.
