About The Position

Position Summary: The Custodian will perform routine custodial work to keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. This may include performing heavy cleaning duties, such as dusting, cleaning floors and furniture, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.

  • One year of custodial experience (preferred)
  • Experience 2+ years related experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform general clean-up of all areas of the building as directed
  • Manage routine upkeep of exterior areas and interior areas
  • Complete non-routine cleaning according to specified job orders
  • Remove garbage and recycling daily and prepare bins for weekly pick-up
  • Handle emergency cleaning and upkeep requests
  • Ensure rooms are maintained and fully equipped
  • Document completion of work orders
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
  • Steam-clean or shampoo carpets as needed
  • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors as needed
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks as needed
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Remove debris from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as training and meetings

  • All other related duties as assigned
