About The Position

The Newborn Hearing Screener is responsible for conducting hearing screenings on newborns at assigned hospitals, ensuring compliance with state and corporate guidelines. This part-time role requires maintaining a clean work environment, managing equipment, and providing excellent customer service while adhering to health and safety protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum skill and proficiency in oral and written communication and basic mathematical calculations.
• Completion of the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM) Newborn Hearing Screening Training Curriculum (not required for initial hiring).
• Basic Life Support CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hearing screens on all applicable patients at the assigned hospital.
• Ensure every baby is screened according to state requirements and corporate guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Follow strict guidelines for patient identification and result labeling.
• Maintain hospital and corporate records and logs as required.
• Maintain newborn hearing screening equipment according to corporate guidelines.
• Report any equipment malfunctions to the Biomedical Engineering department.
• Record results appropriately in patients' charts.
• Inventory supplies and report needs to the Area Manager.
• Begin assigned shift as scheduled.
• Perform related responsibilities as required or directed.
• Ensure optimal testing conditions for hearing screens.
• Report hospital concerns to IHSS personnel within twelve hours.
• Attend meetings related to the Newborn Hearing Screening Program when directed.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service throughout the program.
