About The Position

The Music Theatre Teacher at Carden Academy of Whittier is responsible for planning and teaching music in alignment with The Carden Method®. This part-time role focuses on creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students, facilitating activities that promote communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. The teacher will also evaluate student performance and maintain effective communication with students and parents, while upholding the school's mission of fostering individual growth and development in a supportive atmosphere.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge and understanding of The Carden Method®.
  • Strong communication and people skills.
  • Good organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Enthusiasm for promoting the school and its mission to the community.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional qualifications in music or education.
  • 1 year of teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Implement instructional activities to engage students in meaningful learning experiences for choir and musical theatre.
  • Provide a positive, safe, and clean classroom environment.
  • Facilitate activities and projects that incorporate communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with students, parents, and others.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development.
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines and honoring schedules.
  • Act in a professional and ethical manner and comply with school policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain communication with the Director/Assistant Director regarding absences and needs.
  • Plan and prepare for Christmas and Spring musical performances.
