About The Position

SMART Music provides music and movement classes to all children (infant through 5 years) at private, licensed Montessori preschools. Children learn best in a multi-sensory environment and music provides this in a fun way. Each class in the school will come to our music classes for 20-30 minutes with their classroom teacher once per week in the morning between 8:30 or 9 am to around noon depending on the school. Our classes are filled with music and movement and thematic singing based on the season and holidays of the month using a wide array of music including Charlotte Diamond, Peter & Ellen Allard, Miss Carole Stephens, and seasonal LDS Children's Music. This is a PART-TIME Independent Contactor Music & Movement Teacher role based on-site in Celina, TX. The Music Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging music lessons to students, introducing and advancing their knowledge of music theory and performance. Additional responsibilities include teaching and supporting students in learning various musical instruments, and conducting music-related activities, recitals, or performances to showcase student progress. Collaboration with staff and parents to support student learning will also be an integral part of this role. Need a teacher immediately for Wednesday mornings in Celina. Optional additional hours at other locations as a substitute for our other teachers. On-job training paid at $15/hr will be given as soon as hired at the school(s). You will be required to pay for your own background check/fingerprinting fees and Pediatric CPR/1st Aide certifications before training is completed. Once training is complete Morning Music Classes will be paid at a rate of $25/hr.

Requirements

  • No formal music degrees or training required, just a love for young children and joy of singing and moving to music
  • Paid training, monthly thematic curriculum, and CD music will be provided
  • Teachers only need to provide their own CD player or speaker/phone setup

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Music/Drama Performance and ability to guide students in developing their performance skills is a plus
  • Strong passion for teaching music and inspiring creativity in students
  • Effective communication skills to interact with students, parents, and the school community
  • Prior childcare experience with young children Infant to 5 years old preferred
  • Skill in Music Theory and Music Education to create and teach effective lessons preferred but not required
