Springfield Commonwealth Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time Music and Choir Teacher for High School for the academic year 2024-2025. This position is located at 1 Ames Hill Drive, Springfield, MA 01105, and the start date is as soon as possible. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in music education, with experience teaching both classic and modern musical forms. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to help young musicians develop their skills in a motivating and encouraging learning environment. The Music and Choir Teacher will be responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive music program that aligns with the school's curriculum and Massachusetts' Arts Framework. The teacher will engage high school students with interactive lessons that cover performance techniques, ensemble and vocal skills, music history, and music theory. A welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere is essential, fostering collaboration, creativity, and an appreciation for diverse musical styles. In addition to teaching, the Music and Choir Teacher will oversee the school choir program, which includes organizing practices, competitions, and performances. The teacher will provide tailored guidance to students with varying musical aptitudes and inclinations, utilizing technology and multimedia tools to enhance music education and student learning. Regular communication with parents, administrators, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and program initiatives is also a key responsibility.
