About the Role We are seeking a dynamic Part‑Time Middle School Social Studies Teacher who is passionate about history, civics, and inquiry‑based learning and who believes deeply in educational equity. This role is ideal for an experienced educator who is eager to make a meaningful impact while working a flexible, part‑time schedule within a highly supportive and intellectually rigorous school community. As one of the three pillars of TEP’s program (Academics, Arts, and Athletics), Social Studies plays a critical role in helping students understand the world, think critically about evidence, and engage thoughtfully with the past and present.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of lead teaching experience , preferably in upper elementary or middle school Social Studies classrooms (Grades 4–9).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach Social Studies through discussion, inquiry, writing, and analysis , rather than rote memorization.
  • Strong classroom presence with inclusive, culturally responsive classroom management practices.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including Multi‑Lingual Learners and students receiving Special Education services.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver approximately 3–5 hours of live, on‑site instruction daily in Middle School Social Studies (Grades 5 and/or 7).
  • Design and prepare standards‑aligned, inquiry‑driven lesson plans that emphasize historical thinking, primary source analysis, and interpretation of evidence.
  • Facilitate engaging instruction that helps students understand history as an evolving narrative shaped by multiple perspectives.
  • Assess and document student learning using rigorous, engaging assessments aligned to course objectives.
  • Craft clear and comprehensive report card narratives and input grades into TEP’s student information system.
  • Build a classroom culture rooted in curiosity, respectful discourse, and high expectations, aligned with TEP’s mission and values.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development to continually refine instructional practice.
