About The Position

Everything But The House (EBTH) is a revolutionary marketplace, making it easier to find or sell secondhand goods, headquartered in Cincinnati, OH. EBTH was born out of a passion for helping people via a full-service approach to consignment; revolutionizing how homeowners, estate managers, dealers and collectors connect with a world of shoppers seeking rare and wonderful things. Each day the global auction platform unleashes an ever-changing assortment of art, jewelry, fashion, collectibles, antiques and more, all with a starting bid of $1. EBTH aspires to be the first stop for secondhand online. We stand behind our work and offer every customer the “EBTH Promise”. If we don’t uphold our end of the bargain, we’ll do our best to make it right. We are seeking a versatile, high-energy Merchandising Specialist to join our team in a dynamic hybrid capacity. This role is the "connective tissue" between our high-volume acquisitions and our curated sales galleries. You will be responsible for the strategic allocation of fashion and jewelry assets, ensuring that every piece is placed in the optimal environment to maximize value while strictly avoiding inventory duplicity across our sale platforms. The ideal candidate possesses a deep "encyclopedic" knowledge of luxury brands, a sharp eye for aesthetic trends, and the mental agility to pivot between data-driven allocation and creative storytelling.

Requirements

  • Luxury Brand Expertise: High-level knowledge of luxury houses (Hermès, Chanel, Cartier, etc.), vintage eras, and contemporary market trends in fashion and jewelry.
  • Strategic Flexibility: A "hybrid" mindset with the ability to pivot frequently between administrative tasks and creative projects.
  • Visual Literacy: A strong sense of composition for creating lead imagery and a "keen eye" for high-end home and fashion aesthetics.
  • Communication: Exceptional writing skills for crafting compelling, professional sale narratives.
  • Attitude: An inherently positive, solution-oriented demeanor and a strong sense of curiosity to learn about new makers, materials, and markets every day.
  • Systems Management: Demonstrated capacity to navigate and master proprietary Administrative Systems for inventory tracking, asset allocation, and sales monitoring.
  • Workflow Optimization: Advanced proficiency in Google Chrome and its ecosystem of extensions to manage high-volume research and multi-tab workflows efficiently.
  • Creative Design: Intermediate to advanced skill in Canva for creating high-impact lead images, social media assets, and sale banners that maintain a luxury aesthetic.
  • Digital Research: Ability to utilize digital archives and secondary market databases to verify luxury brand authenticity and market trends.

Responsibilities

  • Asset Allocation: Strategically distribute purchased fashion and jewelry assets into appropriate sales, ensuring a balanced mix and maintaining the unique "identity" of each auction event.
  • Inventory Oversight: Work in tandem with the Senior Director of Purchased Assets to monitor inventory flow and ensure that no two sales overlap in a way that dilutes product demand.
  • Curation & Creative Direction: Concept and curate specialty "Single Seller" and boutique sales. This includes the physical or digital sorting of items to create a cohesive narrative.
  • Copywriting & Branding: Craft sophisticated sale introductions and marketing copy that captures the provenance and allure of each collection.
  • Visual Merchandising: Collaborate on the creation of "Lead Images" and promotional assets, ensuring the visual "hook" of the sale aligns with the quality of the items.
  • Seller Collaboration: Interface and collaborate with sellers to ensure their collections are represented with the highest level of integrity and style.
  • Attend Events: Periodically we create vignettes for various events which require our attendance. Many times these occur over the weekend or at an out of town venue.
