About The Position

This part-time Medical Screener role at BioLife (part of Takeda) involves screening plasma donors and performing phlebotomy to support plasma center operations. The position requires specific California certifications: CPT1, CPT2, CLS, or MLT. BioLife emphasizes flexibility for its part-time team members, with most shifts lasting 4-6 hours, 3+ days per week, and availability confirmed early in the interview process. Reliability during scheduled hours is highly valued due to patient dependence on collected plasma. The role is designed for individuals seeking extra income, valuable experience, or a schedule that fits a busy life. New hires will undergo a paid, interactive training program. The work involves interacting with donors, ensuring their safety, and contributing to the collection of high-quality plasma for life-changing medicines. The role reports to the Plasma Center Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for the entire work shift
  • Will work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lean, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach above shoulders and below knees
  • Ability to lift to 5 lbs., and occasional lifting of materials up to 32 lbs. and rarely 50 lbs.
  • Fine motor coordination, depth perception, and ability to hear equipment from a distance
  • Because of potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens (risk level 1), 90% of work tasks require prolonged glove wear
  • Current license or certification in the state where duties will be assigned: Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1), Certified Phlebotomy Technician 2 (CPT2), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).

  • 1 or more years minimum experience working in a customer or patient facing role is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones, and greet and focus on our donors, while ensuring the safety of donors and our team.
  • Screen new and repeat donors and take and record donor vital signs and finger stick results.
  • Use our Donor Information System, prepare donor charts, maintain accurate records, and coordinate donor compensation.
  • Help identify operational opportunities for continuous improvement and initiate changes to center processes using company approved procedures.
  • Be there for our donors, which includes working a variety of shifts, Saturdays and Sundays, and holidays.
