About The Position

The Medical Assistant II position at UTHealth's Bayshore Urgent Care is a part-time role focused on supporting the clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program or one year of related experience plus certification may substitute for training program.
• One year of related experience in a medical setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) may be required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in an urgent care or similar clinical environment.
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities

• Promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
• Participates in planning and preparing for patient visits, ensuring schedules and test results are available.
• Rooms patients, documenting chief complaints, vital signs, and other required information.
• Performs hearing and vision testing, EKG, spirometry, point of care testing, and specimen collection as required.
• Prepares and stocks clinic rooms and supplies before patient visits and cleans rooms between patients.
• Assists with routine and specialty procedures as needed.
• Schedules follow-up appointments and performs clerical duties such as photocopying and faxing.
• Handles telephone messaging and in-person screening with appropriate follow-up.
• Responds to emergency situations as necessary.
• Maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Performs other assigned duties.
