The West Valley-Mission Community College District is seeking applications for the position of Part-Time Mathematics Instructor (Pool) at Mission College, located in Santa Clara, California. This role is part of a continually accepted pool of applications for part-time, associate faculty positions, which will be reviewed by hiring authorities as needed. The Mathematics Department is looking for qualified candidates who can teach a diverse range of mathematics courses, including but not limited to Arithmetic, Pre-Algebra, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus Algebra, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Calculus for Business and Social Science, Finite Mathematics, Statistics, Discrete Mathematics, and Math for Liberal Arts Majors. The teaching assignments may vary and could include lecture-discussion courses scheduled during the day, evening, or on Saturdays, as well as online or distance education formats. The assignments are made on an as-needed basis during the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters. This position is represented by the West Valley-Mission Federation of Teachers (WVMFT), AFT 6554, and the salary is based on a percentage of workload, with a maximum of 67% of a full-time load. The initial hiring salary range is between $34,143 and $49,337 per semester, prorated based on academic achievement and teaching experience. Candidates must possess a Master's degree in mathematics or applied mathematics, or a Bachelor's degree in either of the above along with a Master's degree in statistics, physics, or mathematics education. Alternatively, a valid California Community College Instructor's Credential in Mathematics or an equivalent qualification is acceptable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate the ability to effectively teach and work with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
