About The Position

Provide one-on-one and/or small group tutoring in-person at the Kearney Center to students in various math courses which may include technical math, pre-algebra, college algebra, trigonometry, calculus I, II, and III, and statistics. In addition to tutoring math, the math tutor will track student participation and progress, and may coordinate scheduling. The position has flexible part time hours M-F. No Saturdays or Sundays. May include virtual/online tutoring in the future.

Requirements

• Must have successfully completed a degree in math or successfully completed college math courses
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Ability to work and communicate with a diverse student population
• Experience using Microsoft Office programs, databases and other computer programs or online media platforms
• Have a strong commitment to working with CCC students
• Ability to work successfully as a team with CCC faculty and staff

Nice To Haves

• One year of tutoring experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Meet in-person with students one-on-one or in small groups
• Assist students in understanding course concepts, completing assignments, and developing effective problem solving strategies
• Track student data in approved CCC software
• Encourage independent learning and critical thinking
• Assist with the general oversight of the ASC as needed
• Participate in tutor training and professional development activities as assigned
• Assist with ASC activities, events, and functions
• Other duties as assigned
