About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: High School math teacher with an Advanced Math Endorsement. Assist students in the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, physical, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with project based learning and current math best practices. Preference given to candidates with demonstrated skills in bilingual education/Spanish language, ability to integrate technology into the curriculum, successful experience with talented and gifted and at-risk students. Other relevant experience related to math and/or STEM/STEAM desired. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of: specific curriculum content for subject area. Skilled in: lesson plan development, implementation of learning activities, behavior management, assessment, and teaching to individual student skill levels. Ability to: communicate orally and in writing and build relationships with students, parents, and staff. Ability to communicate with Spanish speaking students and parents preferred. Experience: Experience with project based learning and current math best practices. Education: Completion of a higher education Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in education/ teaching. Certification Required: A valid teaching license issued by the Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission for grades 9-12 with an Advanced Math Endorsement. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times as designated. Plan a program of study that meets the interests, needs, and abilities of the students and follow established curriculum as written by the district and the state. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisor. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent within the limitations of the location and resources provided by the district. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning the academic and behavioral progress of the students. Cooperate with other members of the staff. Attend staff meetings and other meetings as required. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules of the school and district. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and maintain such records as required by law and district policy. Take all reasonable precautions to provide for the health and safety of the students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities. Perform other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year in accordance with negotiated agreement between licensed teachers and the district. CLASSIFICATION : Licensed, part time , TEMPORARY position, at Newberg High School. WORK DAYS/HOURS : 4 hours per day starting ASAP upon hire, working prorated days of 190 day contract. SALARY : Salary prorated to remaining days left in 2025-2026 contract year according to 2025-2026 Licensed Salary Schedule - $25,284.50 - 51,991.50.
