About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Part-Time Machinist to support our medical device R&D and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with mills, lathes, and a variety of manufacturing tools, as well as a working knowledge of medical device regulations. This role requires flexibility in job responsibilities and the ability to collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to address a wide range of machining needs, including fixture production/modification, reactionary repairs, and prototype development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in machining preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience operating mills, lathes, and other manufacturing tools.
  • Familiarity with medical device manufacturing standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in manual and CNC machining operations.
  • Knowledge of materials commonly used in medical device manufacturing.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and regulatory compliance in a medical device environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair shop equipment.
  • Flexibility to take on varied tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain manual and CNC mills, lathes, and other shop equipment for the fabrication and modification of components and fixtures.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to support R&D projects, production repairs, and automation equipment development.
  • Interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and specifications to produce high ­quality parts.
  • Ensure all machining activities comply with applicable medical device regulations (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485).
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing automated production equipment as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in machining processes and shop organization.
  • Perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
