About The Position

The City of Bozeman is seeking part-time Lifeguard & Swim Instructors to ensure the safety of patrons at aquatic facilities, provide swim instruction, and assist with facility maintenance. This role involves critical lifeguarding duties, customer service, and maintaining a clean and safe swimming environment.

Requirements

• Must be of legal age to perform the duties of the position.
• Aquatics/Lifeguarding experience is desired but not required.
• Must obtain and maintain certifications in Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR/AED, and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification within one year.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to swim at an American Red Cross level four.
• Ability to use power and hand tools for repairs.
• Ability to operate a point-of-sale and registration computer program.

Responsibilities

• Open and close facilities.
• Perform life-saving and guarding duties, including assisting patrons in life-threatening situations and enforcing pool rules.
• Provide aquatics program instruction, including composing lesson plans and teaching water safety.
• Deliver customer service by answering questions and registering patrons for programs.
• Maintain a clean and safe swimming facility, including cleaning locker rooms and pool areas.
• Test and monitor chemical balance in water.
• Provide information and demonstrations to new employees.
• Keep supervisors informed about work progress and potential issues.
• Attend meetings and training sessions to stay current on aquatics practices.
• Respond to citizens' questions in a courteous manner.
• Communicate regularly with others to maximize operational efficiency.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
