About The Position

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at San José State University is a team of dedicated teacher-scholars recognized for our commitment to excellent teaching, to engaging students in research projects, and to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in Physics and in STEM disciplines more broadly. We are committed to implementing evidence-based teaching practices in all of our lower division lectures and labs. We invite applications for a part-time instructor who is prepared for and enthusiastic about teaching lower division introductory labs and/or lectures. Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e., asynchronous, synchronous, bichronous, in-person, or hybrid).

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Physics or closely related field.
• Familiarity with a variety of modern teaching techniques and emerging technologies for instruction.
• Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population.

Responsibilities

• Teach lower division introductory labs and/or lectures.
• Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a diverse student population through inclusive course materials and teaching strategies.
• Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
• Ensure all classes meet as scheduled throughout the semester or term.

Benefits

• Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience.
• Anticipated starting salary ranges from $5507 to $10347 monthly, depending on qualifications.
