About The Position

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE. The Landscape Architecture Department seeks applicants for a pool of part-time lecturers, with positions available as determined by need during the 2025-2026 academic year beginning September 11, 2025. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications, experience and time base. The Landscape Architecture Department at Cal Poly is dedicated to providing the highest quality educational experience for its students within a changing world and profession. The five-year curriculum for the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree is characterized by faculty who assist students to become independent learners and responsible for their education. Our diverse faculty creates a learning environment shared with 205 students in the department and within the College of Architecture and Environmental Design with approximately 2,300 students divided among five departments: Architectural Engineering, Architecture, City and Regional Planning, Construction Management, and Landscape Architecture. The program emphasizes the integration of general education, art, and design with the understanding of natural and social systems in various environmental settings. Our goal is to develop leaders in the profession.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field.
  • Experience to fulfill a special need in the department will be considered with an undergraduate degree from various disciplines.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching and/or professional practice experience.
  • Teaching experience is valuable but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in one or more of the following core subject areas: a) Lower-and upper-division design studios and Integrated Learning Courses (ILCs); b) Landscape representation, hand and digital graphics that include 2 or 3-dimensional graphics and drafting, CAD drafting and/or GIS software; c) Landscape architecture construction including site engineering, construction document preparation and implementation strategies d) Environmental systems and landscape ecology e) Planting design
