About The Position

The University of Chicago is seeking a Part-Time Lecturer in Spanish for the 2023-24 academic year. This role involves teaching various courses in the Spanish Language curriculum within the Humanities Collegiate Division and the Department of Romance Languages & Literatures. The position is contingent upon budgetary approval and is not benefits eligible.

Requirements

• Superior proficiency in Spanish according to ACTFL guidelines.
• Master's degree or equivalent in Hispanic linguistics, literature, second language pedagogy/acquisition, or a related field.
• At least one year of experience teaching Spanish at the college or post-secondary level.

Nice To Haves

• Doctorate or equivalent in a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and teach seminar-style language courses using a highly interactive communicative approach.
• Hold regularly scheduled office hours for student support.
• Prepare and grade assignments and testing materials.
