Description Seeking a qualified candidate to fill a part-time Laboratory Analyst position in the Chemical and Environmental Laboratory at the Longview, TX plant site. Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate's degree in Chemistry, a Bachelor's in Physical Science, or at least two years of directly related experience is preferred.
  • Candidates pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in Physical Science are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Work schedules may vary and will be a minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • This position may have potential opportunities to move into regular full-time positions as a Laboratory Analyst or Technician for qualified candidates
  • Analysts work under the direction of a Team Manager
  • The analyst is responsible for performing testing on routine and non-routine samples using chemical analysis techniques including: Gas chromatography Titrations and other wet chemical analyses Ultraviolet and infrared spectroscopy Viscosity measurements, Softening Point and other polymer analyses Total halogen, sulfur and nitrogen testing Flashpoint testing
  • Analysts are also responsible for monitoring the quality of test results using statistical process control techniques, investigating failing results, calibrating and maintaining test equipment
  • Work is conducted in an environment regulated by ISO and cGMP standards
