About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and trustworthy individual with excellent customer service skills and detailed oriented individual to clean and maintain a commercial location. While previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, or a related field is preferred, it is not mandatory. Please be aware that applicants must successfully complete a background check. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for cleaning common areas, maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies, and reporting any maintenance issues. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently or with a team are essential. Follow instructions accurately, manage multiple tasks, work independently, and handle repetitive duties. Always adhere to safety protocols. Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service. Collaborate with team members to ensure tasks are completed safely. Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, vendors, and property managers. Be capable of working in various environments and conditions. Ensure cleanliness in shared areas within the commercial space and maintain high standards in assigned tasks, which include: sweeping, dusting, mopping, cleaning spills, sidewalks, pathways, maintaining parking lots, and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces, empty trash receptacles, wastebaskets, and recycling bins, disposing of items in designated areas; wipe down all tables and chairs; operate a leaf blower and power washing machine. Demonstrate the ability to stand, bend, and walk throughout the duration of the shift; lift and push trash bins as required. Report any safety issues or building problems, including malfunctioning machines, light bulbs, or specific items on the property. Restock cleaning supplies as necessary. Notify the appropriate HBM employee regarding any needed supplies and equipment for cleaning tasks. Carry out any additional duties assigned by the supervisor or property manager.

Requirements

  • Must pass background check
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Must have good public relations skills and communication
  • Applicants must perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, frequently lift, push, press, pull, carry a minimum of 25lbs (up to 50lbs), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk up and down stairway, use of elevator, use a ladder climb up and down and stand throughout their shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Previous janitorial, custodian, housekeeping experience or related experience is preferred, and willing to train.
