About The Position

The Janitor at the CFM's Chicago PDC location, plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all employees, visitors, and stakeholders. This position ensures that all assigned areas are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized according to union standards and organizational policies. The janitor will be responsible for the upkeep of floors, restrooms, common areas, and office spaces, contributing directly to the overall health and safety of the facility. By performing routine maintenance and promptly addressing cleanliness issues, the janitor supports operational efficiency and enhances the workplace experience. This role requires a commitment to quality, attention to detail, and adherence to union guidelines to uphold the facility's standards consistently.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Physical capability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed.
• The required skills for this role include the ability to efficiently use cleaning tools and equipment to maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility.
• Attention to detail is essential to identify areas needing special care and to ensure all tasks are completed thoroughly.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity are necessary to perform repetitive tasks and handle cleaning materials safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing floors in all designated areas.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness of windows, walls, and fixtures to ensure a presentable environment.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel promptly.
• Follow all union rules and safety protocols while operating cleaning equipment and handling cleaning chemicals.
• Assist with setup and cleanup for special events or meetings as required.
