About The Position

This position is responsible for providing quality instruction to students enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician course. The purpose of the instruction is to equip students with the necessary occupation-specific and employability skills for success in the workplace. This position is also responsible for maintaining required documents: class rosters, course syllabus, Student Membership Verification (SMV) forms, Classroom Sign in/out logs, student grade book, student progress notes, etc. Additionally, all adjuncts are required to complete Moodle training to build and/or maintain a Moodle site for hybrid or online courses and to access the Instructor Resource Site.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Pharmacy Technology or a related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) credential.
  • North Carolina license as a Pharmacy Technician or the ability to attain one prior to hire.
  • Three years' recent industry experience as a pharmacy technician either in a retail or medical environment.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience and/or industry training experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Teaching experience at a community college.
  • Greater than three years' recent industry experience as a pharmacy technician either in a retail or medical environment.
  • Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare & teach departmental courses including maintaining current course syllabi.
  • Employ teaching strategies & instructional materials for different learning styles.
  • Stay current in teaching discipline.
  • Incorporate student textbook websites as learning tools.
  • Model employability skills and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Provide daily & ongoing oversight of facilities and equipment including maintaining classroom and computer lab spaces.
  • Maintain the upkeep and care of equipment as assigned and effectively implement technology solutions.
  • Provide daily & ongoing oversight for class paperwork, including turning in completed monthly class rosters to the Dean's Office in a timely manner.
  • Maintain student grade reports and progress reports.
  • Provide an environment conducive to student success by addressing student concerns and assisting students to develop strategies for success.
  • Refer students to campus and community resources as appropriate.
  • Support program endeavors by attending instructor training meetings and completing required eLearning training online.
  • Employ appropriate classroom management strategies.
  • Demonstrate and model the College's employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork.
