The Part-time Instructor for Practical Nursing is responsible for educating and training students to acquire the necessary skills, knowledge, and behaviors for successful entry into the workplace or higher education. This role supports the program within the industry and the community, aligning with the District's Core Values. The instructor will manage classroom and clinical settings to create an optimal learning environment, plan and organize instructional materials, evaluate student progress, and provide counseling to support student success. Additionally, the instructor will maintain records, develop community contacts, participate in campus projects, and continue professional development in educational methodologies and industry-specific topics.

  • Educate and train students in Practical Nursing to gain skills, knowledge, and behaviors for successful entry into the workplace or higher education.
  • Effectively manage the classroom and clinical setting to create an optimal learning environment, maintaining classroom discipline.
  • Plan and organize instructional materials, update lesson plans, and instruct students using current instructional strategies appropriate to the subject matter.
  • Evaluate students on a recurrent basis to provide timely indications of their progress toward competencies and knowledge required for successful completion of the program.
  • Provide academic, personal, and behavioral counseling to students to support their successful completion of program requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of student attendance, academic progress, and grades as required by District policy and certification agencies.
  • Develop and maintain community/business contacts and participate with industry advisory committees to promote interaction among students and practitioners.
  • Participate in projects/assignments in support of the campus or program, including assistance with activities, attendance at school events, and monitoring duties.
  • Continue to develop professional expertise in educational methodology and learning strategies through participation in conferences and professional development training.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in making decisions regarding the provision of services to internal and external customers.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current Oklahoma Board of Nursing License.
