About The Position

At Seneca Polytechnic, our School of Fire Protection Engineering Technology prepares students for impactful careers that protect lives and safeguard communities. Through advanced fire safety design, code compliance, and hands-on learning, our programs equip learners to enter a field where their expertise truly matters. Help us prepare students for meaningful careers by teaching in our programs. You’ve worked in the fire protection field, designing, reviewing, or supporting sprinkler system installations, navigating codes and standards, and applying engineering principles that keep people and property safe. Now, bring that expertise into the classroom and help students become confident, capable, and industry-ready fire protection professionals. We welcome applicants with backgrounds in areas such as: Fire sprinklers and suppression systems Fire protection engineering technology Building systems, plumbing, and mechanical integration Code compliance, inspection, and system layout Hydraulic calculations and technical design tools Join our Talent Pool and be considered for future part-time teaching opportunities in the School of Fire Protection Engineering Technology. Course assignments are based on scheduling and instructional needs. Contract faculty typically teach up to 6 hours per week, with classes scheduled Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology and/or related credentials in engineering, building systems, or applied technologies.
  • Post-secondary level teaching experience.
  • Industry experience in fire protection, building systems, prevention, inspection, design, or code-related work
  • Familiarity with fire protection codes and standards (such as NFPA, building and fire codes)
  • Knowledge of fire suppression, detection, or life-safety systems through design, installation, testing, or inspection
