About The Position

The Adult Basic Education High School Equivalency (HSE) instructor position with the Division of Workforce and Economic Development at the College of Southern Nevada actively maintains a pool of qualified HSE instructors. Individuals will be selected, on an as-needed basis, by the department to fulfill part-time, temporary, non-tenure-track instructional needs. CSN’s Adult Basic Education instructors prepare adult learners from beginning to advanced levels of literacy and numeracy proficiency in preparation for the High School Equivalency (HSE) exam and post-secondary professional and academic pursuits. Students may take either the GED or HiSet test to earn the HSE certificate issued by the State of Nevada. The five-part HSE exam includes reading, writing, math, social studies, and science. Classes integrate classroom instruction, online learning, career exploration, and workplace skills. The program requires dynamic, engaging instructors with excellent communication skills. Classes are typically held for 8–9 weeks, 3 days a week, for 3 hours per day. AM times are 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., and PM times are typically 6:00 p.m.–9 p.m., and times will vary at different locations throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Additional schedules may become available.
