The Guidance Counselor at James Island Christian School plays a vital role in fostering student success by offering essential support to students, parents, and staff concerning school curriculum and individual student planning. This position involves developing a comprehensive advisement program that equips students both academically and emotionally to thrive in college and beyond. The Guidance Counselor will also encourage students to explore and discover their God-given calling, integrating faith with their educational journey. Reporting directly to the Head of School, this role is integral in shaping a nurturing environment where each student is empowered to reach their full potential while adhering to the school's core values of excellence, integrity, and service. To excel as a Guidance Counselor at James Island Christian School, candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or higher, complemented by certification from the state of South Carolina and/or the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI), or be eligible for such certification. A minimum of three years of experience in a counseling role is preferred, demonstrating a solid understanding of student development and academic planning. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for building relationships with students, parents, and faculty. An ability to create personalized advisement plans that foster both academic and emotional success is crucial. Additionally, proficiency in utilizing various educational software and tools will enhance the ability to track student progress and facilitate effective counseling strategies, ensuring that every student is well-prepared for their next steps in life.
