The Part Time Front Desk Agent at Residence Inn Birmingham Downtown at UAB is responsible for assisting guests with their arrival and departure, ensuring a positive experience throughout their stay. This role involves greeting customers, managing check-ins and check-outs, handling payments, and addressing guest inquiries and complaints. The position requires effective communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure, contributing to the overall hospitality experience of the hotel.

  • Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome.
  • Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information from a computer system.
  • Promote HEI Hotels and Resorts and brand marketing programs.
  • Make appropriate selection of rooms based on guest needs.
  • Code electronic keys and provide welcome folders containing room keys and other information.
  • Verify and imprint credit cards for authorization using electronic acceptance methods.
  • Handle cash, make change, and balance an assigned house bank.
  • Promptly answer the telephone and input messages into the computer.
  • Close guest accounts at check out and ascertain satisfaction.
  • Field guest complaints and conduct thorough research to develop effective solutions.
  • Remain calm and alert during emergency situations and heavy hotel activity.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Hotel experience preferred.
  • Considerable skill in using a calculator for moderately complex calculations.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, requiring patience and diplomacy.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the front office and perform essential job functions continuously.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in customer service roles.
