About The Position

The primary responsibility is to take excellent care of our customers by satisfying each customer's needs and exceeding their expectations. This requires a defined level of product knowledge, floral care and handling skills, sales ability, customer relations skills, and cooperation with fellow associates to create an incredible place to work and shop. The role involves designing and fashioning live, cut, dried, and artificial floral arrangements for events such as holidays, anniversaries, weddings, parties, and funerals. Responsibilities include processing, packaging, stocking, maintaining floral products according to standards, cleaning work areas, providing customer service, unloading stock, and reloading salvage. Associates represent Harris Teeter to customers and the public, and their performance reflects the entire company. Positive customer relations enhance the public's image of Harris Teeter and contribute to customer loyalty and increased sales.

Requirements

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training.
  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate interaction with customers on the sales floor.
  • Provide customers with information needed to meet their taste and meal requirements.
  • Follow through on customer requests.
  • Make eye contact and smile at every customer.
  • Speak to customers in a genuine, clear, and enthusiastic manner.
  • Reflect an appropriate business image to customers and visitors.
  • Be reliable and punctual by reporting for work on time.
  • Confer with clients regarding price and type of arrangement desired.
  • Plan arrangements according to client's requirements.
  • Select flora and foliage necessary for arrangements.
  • Decorate buildings, halls, churches, or other facilities for events.
  • Unload product from truck and place in coolers according to standards.
  • Operate necessary equipment to prepare and portion products.
  • Sell only fresh products and comply with food safety policies.
  • Ensure floral products are properly refrigerated.
  • Stock and block products according to standards.
  • Keep stores clean and comply with health department standards.
  • Communicate in English with customers and fellow associates.
  • Assist in inventory and price change processes.
  • Follow all safety regulations and report hazards.
  • Adapt to various situations and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Support and assist fellow associates.
