About The Position

Requirements

• EMT Certification
• BLS Certification
• Mid-level Driver's License
• Hazardous material containment knowledge
• Computer skills
• 1 year of experience in a related field
• Hydraulics knowledge
• Mechanical knowledge
• Firefighter II certification issued by the State of South Carolina
• CPR/AED certifications
• Pump Ops II certification

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire, emergency medical, rescue, and hazardous material alarms and emergency calls.
• Drive, operate, and maintain firefighting and emergency medical vehicles and equipment.
• Perform emergency medical care and basic life support for Island emergencies.
• Prepare and maintain reports on incidents and equipment maintenance.
• Assist in the investigation of fire and vandalism scenes.
• Maintain skill levels and certifications relevant to assigned responsibilities.
• Participate in public relations and fire safety education activities.
• Conduct fire and life safety inspections of buildings.
• Perform general maintenance work in the upkeep of fire station facilities and equipment.
• Respond to hazardous materials incidents and perform containment.
• Assist in developing plans for emergency preparedness and training programs.
• Provide security services as directed.
