About The Position

The Washington School of Ballet seeks an energetic candidate with significant experience teaching ballet technique to children ages 2 to 10 . The person must possess strong classical ballet knowledge, must be a team player, teach the school's curric ulum and have e xperience in choreo graphy for young children . This position is based at one of our three campuses located in the Northwest area of Washington, D.C.

Requirements

Teaching or professional experience in a nationally recognized comp any and/or school is preferred
Experience teaching and choreograph ing for young children is a must
Support the philosophy and mission of The Washington Ballet and The Washington School of Ballet
Must be a self-starter
Must possess excellent organizational skills, good collaborator
Communicates conflicts, concerns or matters of urgency to appropriate supervisor
Work in a detail-oriented manner, is resourceful and flexible, and is able to handle tasks simultaneously
Work independently and as part of team
Basic understanding of musicality and ability to communicate with pianist
Knowledge of: Classical Ballet
PC and software
Standard office equipment

Responsibilities

Teach ballet classes in level(s) Creative Dance and Pre Ballet 1 through Level 2
Choreograph for the Pre Ballet 2 & 3 Class Presentations and /or Spring Performance for Level 1A and up
Write evaluations for each student
