Part-time Faculty WDCE Cybersecurity Instructor

About The Position

Montgomery College, Workforce Development Continuing Education (WDCE), is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching Cybersecurity. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity, including domains in security and risk management, network security, identity and access management, and security operations.
  • Ability to teach CompTIA Security+ - aligned or CISSP-aligned content.
  • Professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for teaching adult learners.
  • Able to teach in person.

  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus).
  • Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
  • Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable).
  • Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).

Nice To Haves

  • Current CompTIA Security+ and/or CISSP certification.
  • Additional industry certifications, such as CEH, CISM, and CASP+, are a plus.
  • Prior teaching or training experience (community college or workforce development environment a plus)
  • Experience delivering instruction in hybrid, in-person, and online modalities.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard).
  • For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver hands-on, skills-based instruction on cybersecurity and/or CISSP aligned with course objectives and industry standards.
  • Teach adult learners in cybersecurity and/or CISSP certification preparation courses to support industry certification and entry into technical careers.
  • Facilitate courses in-person and/or remotely during weekday evenings or Saturdays.
  • Collaborate with program staff and faculty to develop and update curriculum.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and submit administrative tasks in a timely manner.
  • Provide effective student support through clear communication and timely, constructive feedback.
