About The Position

The Part-Time Faculty position for The Counselor in the Schools course at Syracuse University involves teaching graduate-level counseling students about the roles and functions of school counselors. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Counselor Education and School Counseling experience required.
  • Higher education teaching experience is highly desired.
  • Experience teaching this class to graduate-level counseling students preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
  • Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
  • Meeting all designated class periods.
  • Rescheduling classes or obtaining substitutes in case of absence due to illness or emergency.
  • Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner.
  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Participating in departmental meetings or workshops.
  • Providing student proficiency data for NCATE if required.
  • Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
