About The Position

The Part-Time Faculty Refugee Training Center ESOL Instructor at Montgomery College is responsible for teaching Adult ESOL and Literacy classes to newly resettled individuals in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Experience teaching ESOL for a minimum of two years.
• Experience working with a diverse student population, especially those with specific immigration statuses: refugee, granted asylum, SIV.
• Training in teaching ESOL.
• Proven experience in delivery of high-quality, scaffolded, differentiated, and contextualized activities & instruction to limited literacy and language populations.
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment.
• Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without a sponsor.

Nice To Haves

• Master's Degree in TESOL or related field.
• Coursework in TESOL.
• Completion of TESOL certificate program.
• Teaching experience in Adult or Vocational ESOL.

Responsibilities

• Teach Adult ESOL & Literacy classes.
• Scaffold and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a multi-level ESOL class.
• Assess students' successful completion of the course.
• Abide by program policies and procedures.
• Participate in training sessions prior to the class start date.
