Job Description The Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member in the Radiologic Technology program. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated instructor whose primary responsibility would be visiting students weekly at an assigned clinical site(s). Instructors should exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to the Radiologic Technology students, and demonstrate the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion. During the academic year part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 11.5 ESH (equivalent semester hour) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year. During summer part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 10 ESH (equivalent semester hour) for both sessions combined.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Two years clinical experience in the professional discipline as a Radiologic Technologist and have recent experience (within 3 years) in taking routine diagnostic images in a clinical setting.
  • Must hold current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, or equivalent in radiography.
  • Applicants must be able to travel within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to visit clinical sites affiliated with the program.
  • Must be eligible to acquire a radiographer license in Maryland upon hire.

  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus).
  • Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
  • Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher.
  • Prior teaching experience in Radiologic Technology program or equivalent teaching and learning coursework.
  • Active in clinical practice, especially as applicable to clinical skills in the course content.
  • For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate student learning, primarily in the clinical courses but may have opportunity to do same in laboratory courses or in lectures.
  • Evaluate skill performance and provide feedback to students in a timely manner to monitor mastery and progress through a course.
  • Work as a liaison between clinical affiliate and the program.
  • Maintain a weekly commitment of approximately 4 hours for clinical site visits, which includes the timely submission of paperwork
  • Utilize clinical performance software and Blackboard learning management system.
  • Conduct student evaluations at clinical affiliates.
  • Follow guidelines from department course coordinators to ensure consistent content coverage and student experience across multiple sections of a course.
  • Meet established deadlines to submit student mid-term and final course grades.
