About The Position

The Computer Science instructor is responsible for teaching Computer Science courses to first and second year transfer and professional-technical students. This primarily includes Introduction to Programming (Python), Computer Science I (Java), and Computer Science II (Java). A portion of the teaching assignment may be in the evening, online, and/or at off campus locations. In addition to teaching, this position may involve advising students, modifying curricula based on current technology and employment opportunities, research and theory in teaching areas, and performing related division/department and campus-wide professional responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Masters' degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Experience teaching or mentoring in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting students or populations who have been historically underrepresented, minoritized, and/or economically or educationally disadvantaged.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, learning management systems, and other appropriate instructional technologies.
  • Experience with or willingness to gain experience with teaching and developing coursework online.
  • Ability to foster a climate of equity and belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness.
  • Effective oral/written communication with individuals at all levels inside and outside the College.
  • Experience incorporating a variety of creative teaching methods to address the needs of a diverse group of learners.
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of teaching situations with students from diverse backgrounds/abilities.
  • Experience developing/modifying curriculum both collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to work and interact effectively with colleagues, staff, students, administrators and others of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

Benefits

  • Salary base range: $18,085 - $20,575 base per quarter.
  • Additional High Demand Supplemental Salary amount of up to $2,680/quarter.
