The University of Southern Maine’s Occupational Therapy Department invites applications for part-time faculty. We have an opening for a doctorally-prepared faculty with expertise in geriatrics for a Fall 2026 course, beginning August 31, 2026. We are seeking student-focused instructors who will be responsible for the full delivery and grading of the course. Responsibilities include teaching, assessing student performance, and meeting with students as needed. The instructor will be provided with the learning objectives, program competencies, and suggested topical outline and will be given a previous course syllabus for reference. The Occupational Therapy Department offers comprehensive OT programs through its Lewiston-Auburn campus, providing multiple pathways for aspiring practitioners. Students can pursue a Bachelor of Science Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA-B) degree, a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree, an Entry-Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD), or a Post-Professional OTD for those already in the field. Faculty members are committed to providing accessible and relationship-based occupational therapy education that is hands-on, community-engaged, and focused on the future of occupational therapy practice. Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience, as determined by the Part-Time Faculty Association of Maine (PATFA), an affiliate of the national American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union.
