The Department of English and World Languages at Youngstown State University is seeking candidates for our ongoing pool of part-time instructors for all composition courses: Introduction to College Writing (developmental writing and reading course), Writing 1 with Support (co-requisite writing course), Writing 1 (English 101 equivalent), and Writing 2 (English 102 equivalent). YSU offers in-person sections as well as online sections at various locations. Part-time composition faculty can be assigned up to 11 hours per semester of the above courses which are capped at 22 or 26 students. They must also be available for a minimum of one hour per course per week for student support. Applicants must have excellent oral communication and writing skills. Compensation is $820 per credit hour for a master's degree and $1,075 per credit hour for a PhD; contracts are offered on a term-by-term basis. Part-time instructors at YSU are eligible for partial tuition remission and are enrolled in the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio (STRS).
