About The Position

The School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Vermont State University is seeking part-time faculty member for our Paramedicine Program. The VTSU Paramedic Certificate program is seeking an experienced EMS educator to develop and deliver the new 3-credit online course EMS-2020: EMS Leadership. This course is designed to prepare the student to assume formal and informal leadership roles in the field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Through discussions, case studies, and scenario evaluation, students will work in teams to create and present solutions based on their learned knowledge of EMS systems, policy and politics, crew resource management, leadership and followership, ethics, communication, and conflict resolution. The successful candidate will work closely with the Program Director and Lab instructors to provide opportunities for students to also apply these skills in person during lab hours. Attend program meetings and provide personal and student feedback about the course. This is a new course beginning Spring 2026. Annual salary will vary based on PT Faculty agreement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or higher education level.
  • EMS Education experience
  • Vermont EMS Instructor-Coordinator preferred (or eligible).
  • Experience creating and teaching in an online environment preferred, familiarity with Canvas LMS preferred.
  • Leadership experience with knowledge of EMS Crew Resource Management and Operations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Vermont EMS Instructor-Coordinator preferred (or eligible).
  • Experience creating and teaching in an online environment preferred, familiarity with Canvas LMS preferred.
