This is a synchronous week-long intensive course scheduled from Monday, July 21 to Friday, July 25, 2025, running from 8 am to 4 pm. The course focuses on teaching CSL 6030 Curriculum Design and Classroom Management, aimed at preparing students to deliver school counseling and guidance curriculum while maintaining a caring and structured classroom environment conducive to learning. The course is designed to be interactive, incorporating small groups, individual workshops, practical applications, and a variety of technology to develop and deliver the curriculum. Students will engage in reflections, class discussions, and experiential activities to prepare, develop, and deliver a developmental curriculum that supports Universal Design for Learning, Understanding by Design practices, and ASCA domains including social/emotional, academic, and career mindsets and behaviors, utilizing a standards-based curriculum and research-based instructional practices.

  • Teach CSL 6030 Curriculum Design and Classroom Management.
  • Prepare students to deliver school counseling and guidance curriculum.
  • Maintain a caring and structured classroom environment.
  • Facilitate interactive learning through small groups and workshops.
  • Utilize technology for curriculum development and delivery.
  • Engage students in reflections and class discussions.
  • Guide students in developing a developmental curriculum.
  • Master's degree in counseling, with a school counseling or related discipline.
  • Teaching experience at the graduate level (preferred).
  • Related training/professional development experience in mental health, school counseling, policy and advocacy, or a related field (preferred).
  • Knowledge and experience with the Vermont School Counselor Association and American School Counselor Association.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Vermont Licensure Portfolio School Counseling Standards and VT Agency of Education.
  • Experience offering workshops or in-service professional training in relevant fields.
  • Flexibility in teaching modalities, including hybrid, online, and/or in-person.
