About The Position

Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion. The Montgomery College Rockville, Germantown, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring campuses are accepting applications for possible part-time faculty openings in Business, Finance, and Management. We seek an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits high professionalism, a solid commitment to our students, and the ability to motivate and educate engagingly in both the classroom and virtual environments. During the academic year, part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 11.5 ESH (equivalent semester hours) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year. During summer, part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 10 ESH (equivalent semester hours) for both sessions combined.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, Education, Marketing, Economics, or Public Administration.
  • Willingness to teach classes on or off-campus locations.
  • Successful candidates must undergo background checks and fingerprinting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence.
  • Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without a sponsor.

Nice To Haves

  • A Doctorate is preferred.
  • Three or more years of teaching experience.
  • Five or more years of full-time corporate work experience.
  • Distance Learning and face-to-face teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in business, finance, and management.
  • Mentor and advise students.
  • Participate in department and college affairs.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development (e.g., seminars and conferences).
  • Provide effective classroom instruction using Open Education Resources.
  • Prepare and grade all class assignments and examinations.
  • Advise, assist, and evaluate students.
  • Maintain regular office hours.
  • Participate in paid program activities, including curriculum and program planning, development, evaluation, and decision-making.
  • Develop new teaching-learning methods and materials.
  • Participate in departmental and college professional training activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records.
  • Maintain currency and depth of knowledge in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Communicate with excellent written and oral skills in English.
