About The Position

Founded in 1852, GSC is a member of the University System of Georgia. The college has a distinctive legacy of excellent scholarship and service. GSC offers nearly 30 degrees, which includes multiple associate and baccalaureate pathways for students. With an enrollment of over 3,100 students, GSC offers an intimate academic setting with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories. In this setting, students receive individualized attention that only a small college with dedicated faculty and staff can provide. The Department of STEM offers courses in Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Mathematics and Physics. We offer a BS in Biology as well as Associates of Science degree pathways. Introductory to Biology (BIOL 1111K) and Introductory to Biology II (BIOL 1112K) for non-science majors. Modality of instruction is online. General topics in Introductory to Biology include cell structure and function, cell division, plant and animal energy pathways, genetics, and evolution. General topics in Introduction to Biology II include diversity of viruses and bacteria, plant and animal classification, structure and function of major plant and animal systems and ecology. These courses include a laboratory component.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in the discipline (e.g. Botany, Zoology, Ecology, Physiology).

  • Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level.
