About The Position

Lake Norman Charter is seeking qualified candidates for Part-Time English Learner (EL) Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The position is located at LNC Middle School and services students in grades K-12. Lake Norman Charter Part-Time English Learner (EL) Teacher Position Type: Salaried Part Time (28 hours/week), 10-month FLSA Status: Exempt Location: Lake Norman Charter MS, Huntersville, NC Reports to: Director of Academics Purpose: Lake Norman Charter (LNC) is a K-12 public charter school that provides a rigorous and comprehensive educational environment to develop students with a focus on college readiness, leadership, and social responsibility. As a college preparatory school committed to serving all students, it is essential that LNC establishes and maintains comprehensive support systems to ensure equitable access to educational opportunities for English Learners (ELs). The EL Teacher plays a critical role in overseeing the implementation of language support services, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and promoting instructional practices that support language acquisition and academic achievement.

Requirements

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of second language acquisition and instructional strategies for English Learners
  • Ability to analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and program effectiveness
  • Experience supporting culturally and linguistically diverse populations
  • Knowledge of WIDA standards, ACCESS testing, and EL compliance requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in education

  • ESL/ELL licensure or certification preferred
  • Experience working with English Learners or related services preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensures district-wide compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to English Learners.
  • Develops, implements, and regularly updates policies, procedures, and practices related to EL identification, placement, instruction, and monitoring.
  • Coordinates and oversees all EL processes, including Home Language Surveys (HLS), identification, WIDA screening, placement, progress monitoring, and exit criteria.
  • Provides comprehensive training and professional development to administrators, teachers, and staff on EL requirements, instructional strategies, and best practices for supporting multilingual learners.
  • Ensures appropriate implementation of language instruction educational programs (LIEPs) aligned with student needs and district goals.
  • Collaborates with administrators, instructional staff, and student services personnel to support effective instructional strategies that integrate language development with content learning.
  • Communicates with families regarding EL services, student progress, and program requirements, ensuring accessibility of information in home languages when appropriate.
  • Implements monitoring systems to track student progress in English language proficiency and academic achievement, ensuring appropriate supports are in place.
  • Maintains accurate and compliant records of all EL student data, including identification, services, progress monitoring, and reclassification documentation.
  • Conducts regular program evaluations to assess effectiveness of EL services and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Serves as a liaison between the school, families, and community organizations to coordinate resources and support for English Learners and their families.
  • Coordinates and facilitates EL-related meetings across campuses to ensure consistent implementation of services and compliance practices.
  • Collaborates with EC staff, counselors, and MTSS teams to support EL students who may require additional interventions or services.
  • Stays current with legal requirements, research, and best practices related to multilingual education and language acquisition.
  • Prepares and submits required reports related to EL services, including state and federal reporting requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Academics, Superintendent, or designated administrative staff.
