Join our Team at South Georgia State College! South Georgia State College is a residential state college of the University System of Georgia (USG). SGSC focuses on a core of strong teaching and personalized academic advising. It has a long and distinguished tradition of serving the people of Georgia. Students pursue associate degrees in 20 programs of study, eight (8) bachelor’s degrees programs which are transferrable to other institutions or prepare them for careers in a variety of fields. The primary duty of a part-time faculty member is teaching. Teaching up to 7 credit hours per semester in English.

Requirements

• The completion of a master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in English or related field.
• Two years of teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

• The Doctorate Degree in the English or related field.
• Three years of teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Meet each class as scheduled at the designated time and place and for the designated length of time.
• Maintain a minimum of ten office hours for student consultation per week, appropriate to the time and delivery method of the assigned courses.
• Provide each student with a syllabus per the guidelines in the faculty handbook at the beginning of each course.
• Develop new courses and course materials as appropriate.
• Stay current in the teaching discipline(s) and the pedagogy of that discipline.
• Participate in professional development activities on an on-going basis.
• Submit correct proof rosters and grades in Banner by the assigned deadlines.
• Record daily attendance according to institutional policy.
• Submit assessment data to discipline committee chair in a timely manner.
• Attend and participate in all college-wide and appropriate School meetings.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
