About The Position

St. Cecilia School and Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher to support students whose first language is not English. The ELL Teacher will provide targeted instruction, assessment, and support to help students develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, while fostering confidence and academic success across subject areas. This educator will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, families, and school leadership to ensure that English learners are fully supported in their academic and social-emotional growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, ESL, or related field required.
  • Valid teaching certification (ESL/ELL endorsement preferred).
  • Experience working with English language learners in K–8 settings (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of language acquisition, sheltered instruction, and differentiation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and families.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of St. Cecilia School and Academy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group and/or one-on-one ELL instruction based on student needs and language proficiency levels.
  • Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with grade-level curriculum and ELL standards.
  • Support students in acquiring academic vocabulary and language structures necessary for classroom success.
  • Adapt instruction to accommodate diverse language backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to determine student proficiency levels and instructional needs.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Assist with state- or district-mandated language proficiency assessments.
  • Partner with classroom teachers to support language development within core subjects.
  • Provide strategies and resources to teachers for effectively supporting English learners.
  • Communicate with families about student progress, language goals, and ways to support learning at home.
  • Attend relevant staff meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for multilingual learners.
  • Advocate for students’ academic, cultural, and social-emotional needs.
  • Promote culturally responsive teaching and celebrate linguistic diversity within the school.
