Outreach is hiring a Part-time Elementary Teacher at Outreach Carol Stream to support 1st and 2nd grade students in the JNS after-school program academically and in life skills. Part-time Temporary Employment from March 1st - May 22nd 2026. An average of 20 hours a week, Monday – Friday. Working hours are 2:30pm-6:30pm on school days and potential work on non-school days. Hours vary during school breaks and holiday weeks. Some evening or weekend hours are required for special events and other program needs. Summer opportunities may also be available. Benefits & Compensation: $20 - $22/hour – based on education, experience, and language ability. IL paid leave. 403(b) retirement plan. Employee Assistance Program and Employee Discount. Requirements

  • BA in education, social work, children's ministry, or a related field.
  • 1 -2 years of previous classroom or group experience with elementary-age kids.
  • Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families.
  • Responsible and independent professional, as well as an effective team player.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/ English) strongly preferred.
  • A valid driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • The PT Elementary Teacher will collaborate with the Program Coordinator to build relationships with and facilitate learning for elementary students in the JNS after-school program.
  • The PT Elementary Teacher is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and education of one classroom of 1st and 2nd grade students.
  • The PT Elementary Teacher will teach and guide a classroom of elementary students in the daily after-school program.
  • Curriculum activities include homework support, academics, social-emotional learning, Christian education, and life skills.
  • Maintain a "student-friendly" classroom that invites discussion, research , and learning, leading to an enriched experience and welcoming environment.
  • The PT Elementary Teacher will implement and enforce standards for effective behavior management according to Outreach's standards.
