About The Position
Student Disability Resources (SDR) is looking for a part-time Educational Assistant for a student who has a mobility impairment taking courses during the Fall 2026 Semester. The individual hired for this role will assist the student with classroom-based writing and materials organization to ensure access to lecture and classroom information. In addition, they may also assist with completing homework assignments and assessments outside of class.
Requirements
- Time commitment: Attend scheduled class sessions in-person, on the Penn State Behrend Campus.
- Able to schedule time outside of class to work on course assignments.
- Able to work an estimated 10 to 20 per week.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working with individuals who have disabilities is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Scribe
- Act as a scribe for the student.
- Handwrite or type the content according to the student’s exact instructions.
- Reader
- Read course-related content aloud as needed by the student.
- Read assessments aloud as needed by the student and directed by SDR.
- Materials Organization
- Finding and organizing in-class materials (e.g., text. PowerPoint slides, problem sets. graphics) for synchronous use with the instructor and class.
- Assisting the student before or after class in meeting with the instructor to get clarification of material and information, as needed.
- Other tasks as assigned by SDR.
