About the position

The Part-time Editor for Arts & Culture at Lane Community College will work closely with the Program Director and News Director to generate and coordinate content for KLCC's broadcast and digital platforms. This role focuses on reflecting the artistic and cultural life of Western and Central Oregon, producing journalistic content, and maintaining community engagement through various media formats.

Responsibilities

  • Curate and maintain KLCC online community events calendar.
  • Write and record audio spots for broadcast focusing on community events within KLCC's service area.
  • Report, write and produce journalistic content for broadcast and digital.
  • Edit graphics, audio and video for use on-air and online.
  • Develop and maintain news contacts.
  • Participate in the production of KLCC News special broadcasts and series as assigned.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of publishing, digital editing, or broadcast experience.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • College level training in journalism, digital content management, broadcasting, graphic design, audio and video editing.
  • Experience in news gathering, research, writing, interviewing, and editing.
  • Familiarity with public broadcasting standards and values.
