About The Position

Roxbury Community College seeks a dynamic and experienced part-time adjunct Spanish faculty member to teach college-level Spanish courses with dual enrollment high school students and Early College high school students in grades 9 through 12. The successful candidate will have prior experience working with high school students in a public school system, along with a master's degree in foreign or world languages with a specialization in Spanish. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for teaching on campus and on site at high schools, and must demonstrate an understanding of high school protocols, including being a mandated reporter, using a seating chart, and implementing effective classroom management techniques.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in foreign or world languages with a specialization in Spanish.
  • Prior experience teaching Spanish to high school students in a public school system.
  • Additional experience teaching community college Spanish courses with dual enrollment high school students and Early College high school students.
  • Familiarity with high school protocols, including mandated reporting, seating chart management, and classroom discipline procedures.
  • Ability to teach on campus and on site at high schools.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Office 365, as well as experience with learning management systems such as Canvas or similar platforms.
  • Availability for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters.
  • Three letters of recommendation, official college transcripts, and language proficiency demonstration required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach college-level Spanish I and Spanish II courses to dual enrollment high school students and Early College high school students.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with college and high school curriculum standards.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student success.
  • Utilize varied instructional methods and technologies to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Adhere to high school protocols, including mandated reporting, seating chart management, and classroom discipline procedures.
  • Collaborate with high school and college faculty and staff to ensure seamless integration of dual enrollment programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and curriculum development initiatives as required.
